#NewFromTwitter: Twitter is testing 4,000 character tweets. Is this something you want? https://t.co/rgqh5pKmoo

@MadalynSklar Would this be the end of threads? Or would people start threading 4K-character tweets? https://t.co/ryUPaX7hVd

@MadalynSklar Can’t longer tweets be an advantage for business owners or are long tweets unappealing to your audience?
— A Moment For You ( @MindBathandBody ) Feb 09, 2023
@MadalynSklar I think it’s a toss up- would people read the essay or the thread? Hmm. Do people have the attention span for something not in bite sized chunks
— Bunsen and BEAKER ( @bunsenbernerbmd ) Feb 09, 2023
@MindBathandBody @MadalynSklar I suppose we’ll only know as brands start to use it more extensively. I can see some businesses summarising a blog post in a long tweet. That might work better than sharing an external link. But I also think that too much of that can get a bit intense in the feed.

@MadalynSklar ChatGPT will be turning out so many long tweets.
— Luke A. Renner | WhatLiesInsideFilm.com ( @LukeARenner ) Feb 09, 2023
@MadalynSklar Reading More characters in one tweet is better than using a thread to open each tweet in user experience.
— Abdallh Koraitam ( @abdallh_kritm ) Feb 09, 2023
@MadalynSklar Adding photos and videos to our threads keep the folks engaged. There are amazing writers who have great tweet threads with just text. I do feel that for the average social media user, where video is taking over, that keeping video/photos gets more a general audience.
— Bunsen and BEAKER ( @bunsenbernerbmd ) Feb 09, 2023
@MadalynSklar I would rather see better link sharing, cross-platform compatibility (like watching a YouTube video inside my Twitter feed). I think the most encouraging part about 4k characters is the sign that platform expansion is happening, relatively fast after the purchase.
